Definition
The production of food and non-food (e.g. fuel, medicines, materials) products from crops and livestock. Agriculture is the main food production sector, complemented by fisheries and aquaculture. Agriculture is sensitive to environmental degradation and climate change but can also have negative environmental impacts including contributing to biodiversity loss, producing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution, and significant water demands.
